At Letters to Heal, your privacy matters. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information when you use the site:
- Submitted Content: The content of any letter you write or upload, including titles, tags, and submission preferences (e.g. public, anonymous).
- Account Information (if accounts are enabled): Name, email, encrypted password, and optional profile details.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device info, and usage patterns (via cookies or analytics tools).
- Contact Information: If you email or fill out a contact form, we collect your name, email, and message content.
2. How We Use Your Information
We may use your information to:
- Display your letter on the site based on your privacy settings
- Moderate content to maintain community standards
- Improve website functionality and user experience
- Notify you (if you’ve opted in) about related projects, such as a book on healing the father wound
- Republish selected letters in other formats—such as a book, article, or audio project—only if you gave permission during submission
3. Publishing in Other Formats
If you granted permission, your letter may be republished in future projects. Letters will never be published with your email, and will not include your full name unless you explicitly choose to include it.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We only share information:
- If required by law (e.g. legal request or court order)
- To protect the rights or safety of users or the platform
- With your explicit consent (e.g. to display your name)
5. Submitting and Deleting Letters
- You may submit letters anonymously or under a pseudonym
- You can delete your letter by logging into your account. For security and privacy reasons, we do not process deletion requests by email or any other method outside the account system. If you lose access to your account and cannot reset your password, we will be unable to verify authorship and therefore cannot delete the letter.
- You may request a copy or deletion of your personal data at any time.
6. Data Security
Your data is stored securely with appropriate safeguards. No system is 100% secure, so please avoid including identifying details about third parties in your letters.
7. Children’s Privacy
This site is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we’ve collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
8. Communication Preferences
If you opt in, we may contact you occasionally about related projects. You may unsubscribe at any time via link or by contacting richy@letterstoheal.com.
9. Policy Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with an updated effective date.
